Through the continued support of our local media, Crime Stoppers makes weekly appeals for help from the public, asking for information about the "Crime of the Week", or any criminal activity. Tipsters can call 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) from any phone, and will be connected to the local Crime Stoppers office. This number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Once the information is received, it is forwarded to the appropriate enforcement agency for further investigation.
It is important to remember that Crime Stoppers would not benefit by knowing who's calling. That's why we don't have call display, we don't record your call, and you don't have to appear in court. What's really important is that we get your information. When you call, you're given a numeric identification number, which you will use in all future calls. If your information leads to an arrest or charge, you will qualify for a cash reward of up to $2000.
A group of concerned citizens volunteer to serve on the Board of Directors to oversee the Crime Stoppers program. Board members meet regularly to manage and promote the program, raise funds and authorize reward payments. The Ontario Provincial Police provides a police coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations, and promote the program. Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization relying on a co-operation between law enforcement agencies, news media and the citizens of our community for support and funding.
